PRESS RELEASE:

Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee and County of Orange Social Services Agency Host Children and Families Health Fair

Fullerton, CA. (April 29, 2024) – Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee, Fourth District, and the Social Services Agency (SSA) are hosting a Children and Families Health Fair starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Orangethorpe Elementary School, 1400 S. Brookhurst Road in Fullerton.

Residents can receive health screenings and food while supplies last; apply for food, health insurance and monetary benefits; and visit participating partners to find out more about other services and resources available to them.

“We host this annual event, so residents may become aware of all the possible benefits available to them,” said Vice Chairman Chaffee. “It’s also important to get the word out about the recent Medi-Cal expansion since all Orange County adults ages 26-49 are eligible for full coverage Medi-Cal through CalOptima Health or Kaiser Permanente, regardless of immigration status. In addition, what someone owns, such as a house or vehicle, will not be considered when they apply for Medi-Cal. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive, accessible and equitable healthcare services for every member of our community.”

SSA will bring its Mobile Response Vehicle – an office on wheels – and a team of eligibility professionals to assist attendees in applying for public assistance benefits or to answer questions recipients may have about their current benefits. In-language services will be available.

“Events like the Children and Families Health Fair bring together resources our clients may not know are available. We are grateful for Vice Chairman Chaffee’s partnership in reducing barriers by bringing services to the community directly,” said SSA Director An Tran.

Participating partners include the Fullerton School District, CalOptima Health, Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP-OC), ICNA, OC Health Care Agency and more. Local folklorico groups will provide entertainment during the event.

Event parking is located on at Orangethorpe Elementary School and in around the surrounding neighborhood.
